Are you our next Youth Leader?
We are currently searching for our next youth leader. We want someone passionate about youth ministry, someone willing to love these kids and help them grow, and someone who wants to be a part of their lives. Some of the things we want from our next youth minister are:
Loves the Word
Most of our youth are already professed believers and desire to grow deeper in their study of the Word. We want the person who fills this role to be able to share with them Biblical messages in a clear and meaningful way. We also want this person available to counsel the youth with biblical guidance when those times come.
Present with the Youth
We want our youth leader to be present in these kids lives, by being present on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. We have a monthly youth meetup scheduled each month for the youth to go places or play games and we'd want the next leader head that up as well.
Youth Camp
We take the kids to Breakaway Camp in the summer each year, and you'd get to be a part of that as well! It's a week in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida. The kids have an amazing time in worship, learning about the Word and just getting closer to God and with each other. We want our next leader to head this up.
Honest Character
Something very important to us is Godly character. We want you to be wise, discerning, careful, and just a biblical example of a person who walks with Jesus each and every day. Jesus doesn't need to be a Sunday morning God to you. We want you passionate about Him so that the kids can see that as well.
More Information about the Role
Our youth group is currently between 6-10 youth each Wednesday night. We are also currently shopping for a van in order to reach more kids. We have had past youth ministers who do not reside in Collins, and we are able to help with gas coming to church on an as needed basis. We are not a mega church. We don't have a huge fund and endless resources. Our kids are pretty simple - they have Wednesday nights where they play a game or two, and then have a short 20-30minute message. Worship is available for Wednesday nights as well. The 3rd Sunday of the month, we have a youth night which varies: sometimes its a game night at church, sometimes we go to a youth's home to hang, sometimes we go bowl or skate, sometimes we just go out to eat. It changes. We do "big" outings like bowling or skating about twice a year and the church pays for all the students. They are usually asked to pay for their lunch. The youth do have their own room at our church that is fully furnished with second hand chairs and couches and it has a projector, small sound system, and plyboard walls so it's pretty "youth-proof."
